During the period of 1945-1965 many people were campaigning for the end of Jim Crow Laws and it caused a lot of conflict. We can learn a lot from how horribly this situation was handled, and how we can better deal with sensitive situations like these in the future. |

- The only way to improve the future for our nation is to look back at the mistakes that we made. Jim Crow Laws were a huge mistake in our nations history. If our goal as a nation is to protect the human rights our our people and to make the U.S. the greatest nation on the planet, then we need to look back at events like Jim Crow Laws. We need to look at what led up to Jim Crow Laws and how we can prevent such a blatant violation of human rights like Jim Crow Laws from happening again.
- As a nation, we learned a lot of valuable lessons from Jim Crow Laws. We learned the importance of protecting the human rights of everyone. People are strong. If you oppress a group of people for a long enough period of time, they will revolt against you. A revolt is not good for anybody. The U.S. saw the Civil Rights Movement occur as almost a direct result of Jim Crow Laws. Through all of this, we learned that everyone is equal, and everyone deserves to be treated equally and fairly. You can't just treat people anyway you want to, because it will backfire on you eventually. I feel that the most valuable lesson to take away from this horrible time in U.S. history is the preservation of human rights. These rights are granted to everybody simply because they were born, and nobody has the right to take them away.
